Customers enjoy patterns that are well written and contain all the information they need to prepare to make and to make the item. Consistent writing is key to customer retention as people will return again and again to designers whose pattern writing they like.

Creating and maintaining your own brand style sheet is fundamental to creating quality patterns that are consistent even if you are the only author, but crucial if you work collaboratively. A good style sheet will cover both the technical and the editorial style of you patterns.

Style sheets save tech editors' time, which saves you money. A tech editor can check your work against your style sheet rather than having to ask you which your preference is on any writing discrepancies. They also reduce pattern writing time as once a decision has been made its recorded for you, ready to be accessed.

This course can be bought individually for $75 or as part of our Self Publishing Bundle with Photographing Your Makes, Lay Out and Design and Charting Crochet Designs for $250. To get the discount, simply add all 4 courses to your checkout.
